We clean the rooms and the touch points around the equipment. The equipment is cleaned by your own staff, to the manufacturer's instructions.
Every visit
Scanner and ultrasound rooms, change cubicles, reporting rooms, reception, waiting, staff areas and bathrooms. Floors, walls, doors, benches, handles, switches and sills. Bins emptied and relined. HEPA filtered vacuums, colour coded microfibre.
Touch points only
Handles, switches, chair arms, bench edges, and the wall and floor beside a gantry. We clean what the room gives us and stop where the equipment starts. Frequencies sit in the same room by room schedule.
Left on site
A signed log at every visit, a product list with ARTG numbers and safety data sheets, and an induction record for everyone who attends. Visits are set around scanner time.
The equipment manufacturer's instructions are the authority.
No. The rooms and the touch points around them are ours. Gantries, couches, detectors, consoles, screens and transducers are cleaned by your staff with the agents the manufacturer approves.
Only when your MRI personnel screen and supervise them, and only with cleaning equipment you have approved. Otherwise we do not enter the magnet room or the controlled area. RANZCR treats cleaners as non-MRI personnel: screened, supervised, trained in the rules.
Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme Standard 1.6 asks the practice for a policy meeting government infection control guidelines. It has no cleaning clause of its own, so we align the schedule to the NHMRC guidelines it points at.
